Pangkalanbun - Kumai - Tanjung Puting

This morning, your guide will welcome you for an early transfer to Pangkalanbun airport. After a short drive, you will reach the Kumai river port where you will board your "klotok," a traditional wooden boat typical of Borneo's rivers.

From Kumai, you will quickly set out into the fascinating Tanjung Puting National Park, navigating along the peaceful Sekoyer River, a small tributary. After the boat ride, you will stop at the Tanjung Harapan Rehabilitation Center, where you will have the opportunity to observe orangutans up close in their natural habitat. Continuing your cruise, you will explore the surrounding wildlife at your own pace, with chances to spot proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, and a variety of exotic birds.

For dinner, you will be invited to enjoy a refined meal aboard the boat. You can relax on cozy mattresses and plush cushions while being lulled by the myriad sounds of the surrounding jungle. On the lower deck, amenities include a kitchen, basic Western-style toilets, and a simple bathroom, ensuring comfortable living throughout your stay.

Kumai - Rivière Sekoyer - Pondok Tanguy - Camp Leakey

Your cruise along the Sekoyer River offers an immersive experience, featuring tranquil navigation along the banks in search of fascinating wildlife: river crocodiles, various primate species, colorful birds, and many other natural wonders. This adventure includes several stops that allow for rainforest hikes and the opportunity to observe majestic orangutans at "Pondok Tanguy" and "Camp Leakey."  

These short walks, although easily accessible, do require some precautions: expect to encounter mud, and it is advisable to wear appropriate footwear. In addition to your orangutan quest, these walks will give you the chance to admire intriguing local flora, including surprisingly shaped carnivorous plants.  

In the evening, you will peacefully anchor by the riverbank, where the spectacle of the starry sky, illuminated by thousands of twinkling stars, will immerse you in an atmosphere of serenity and wonder. These moments of contemplation in nature will stay etched in your memory.  

Throughout the day, you can enjoy cuisine prepared by your talented onboard cook, who takes pride in creating delicious dishes, enhancing your culinary experience amidst nature.

Kumai - Tanjung Puting  

This day will be fully dedicated to exploring the upper part of the river, where the banks are closely packed and the waters are remarkably pure. We will embark on an extended trek through the forest in search of wild orangutans, fascinating birds, and a multitude of other animal and plant species typical of the rainforest ecosystem.  

In the afternoon, we will have the opportunity to observe orangutans at the renowned Camp Leakey, where these majestic primates live in their natural habitat.  

Depending on weather conditions, an additional activity is planned. If it doesn’t rain, we will undertake a night walk around Pondok Tanguy to track nocturnal animals and admire glowing mushrooms. Alternatively, a peaceful boat ride will give us the chance to observe hundreds of fireflies illuminating the night in a enchanting spectacle.  

This day promises to be rich in discoveries and wonder, in harmony with nature.

Tanjung Puting - Kumai - Pangkalanbun  
 

We begin this day with an early morning return to the mouth of the Sekoyer River, offering a unique opportunity to admire the beauty of the mangrove and the majestic nipa palms. This natural setting, both serene and fascinating, will captivate you with its ecological richness.

After this moment of discovery, we offer a short transfer from Kumai to Pangkalanbun Airport.
